The N239 intake manifold shut-off valve is located in the engine compartment, near the G70 mass air flow sensor. It switches the vacuum to activate the intake manifold damper in the intake manifold. This stops the engine from shaking when the clutch is disengaged. Diesel engines have a high degree of compression. The engine vibrates when the clutch is disengaged due to the high compression pressure of the intake air. A small amount of air is compressed and the engine runs smoothly until it stops.
If the engine is off, the J248 Direct Fuel Injection Engine Control Module sends a signal to the N239 intake manifold shut-off valve. This collector then switches the vacuum for the vacuum motor. The vacuum motor closes the intake manifold damper.

If the N239 intake manifold damper shut-off valve fails and the intake manifold damper remains open. The tendency of the engine to vibrate during shutdown increases.
