Gas pedal sensors

The sensors of the accelerator pedal are integrated into a single housing and connected to the pedal by mechanical communication. There are the following gas pedal sensors:

• Throttle position sensor G79;
• Kick Down F8 switch;
• Throttle position switch F60.

Signal application

The J248 Direct Fuel Injection Diesel Control Module can recognize the position of the accelerator pedal by this signal. In vehicles with an automatic transmission, the Kick Down F8 switch points to the J248 w direct fuel injection engine control module.

Consequence of signal failure

Without a signal from the G79 throttle position sensor, the J248 direct fuel injection engine control module cannot recognize the position of the accelerator pedal. The engine will only run at high idle speed.
