Modern diesel engines require high precision and efficiency of fuel system management. One of the key components of this system is the fuel return pressure reducing valve developed by Bosch, which is used in the 2.7TDI and 3.0 TDI engines in the cars

The principle of operation of the valve
Constant pressure valve
A constant pressure valve is a mechanical valve. It is located between the return lines from the injection valves (injectors) and the return line of the fuel system.

What is a valve for?
The valve maintains the fuel pressure at approximately 10 bar. This fuel pressure is necessary for the correct operation of the injection valves (electromagnetic valves of the injectors).
The principle of operation of the valve
When the engine is running, fuel flows from the injection valves (injectors) through the return lines to the constant pressure valve. When the fuel pressure exceeds 10 bar, the ball under the pressure raises the spring and opens the valve. Through it, the fuel enters the return line and further to the fuel tank.

What is the Bosch check valve for?
Answer: To maintain a constant pressure in the return fuel line, which ensures the correct operation of the injectors.
How does this valve work?
Answer: When the fuel pressure exceeds 10 bar, the valve ball rises, allowing the fuel to flow back to the fuel tank.
What can be the consequences of valve failure?
Answer: Irregular engine operation, jerking, the feeling of malfunctioning injectors and improper fuel combustion.
Can the valve affect the operation of the EBC (Electronic Control Unit)?
Answer: Yes, incorrect valve operation can cause the EBC to make incorrect corrections for the injectors, resulting in misfiring and uneven engine performance.
Does a broken valve always manifest itself, or from time to time?
Answer: No, the valve may not always manifest itself. Valve malfunctions are often more common when the engine is hot.
How to solve the problem with a faulty valve?
Answer: It is recommended to replace the defective valve with a new one to ensure proper operation of the fuel system. There are options for restoration, but they are not always successful.
