BMW Owner's Manual: Instrument Cluster Overview

1 - Fuel level indicator.
2 - Speedometer.
3 - Control/signal lamps.
4 - Tachometer.
5 - Oil temperature.
6 - Electronic display.
7 - Outside air temperature, clock.
8 - Total mileage, one-time mileage.
9 - Resume mileage.

Mileage counter - arrow 1 .
One-time mileage counter - arrow 2 .

 

 

Temperature drop signal

If the indication drops to +3 ℃, the alarm sounds. A message about the self-diagnosis system will be displayed.

Important : at temperatures above +3 ℃, there may also be an increased risk of frostbite.

Time

The time is displayed in the lower part of the instrument cluster:

Tachometer

Do not under any circumstances bring the engine speed to the values of the red safety sector. In order to protect the engine, the fuel supply is stopped in this range.

 

 

Coolant temperature

If the coolant, and thus the engine, overheats, a message from the self-diagnosis system appears.

 

 

Engine oil temperature

Cold engine: the needle is at a low temperature value. Drive at a moderate number of revolutions and at a moderate speed.
Normal operating temperature : The arrow is inside or on the left half of the temperature indicator.
Hot engine: the arrow is at a high temperature value. Additionally, a self-diagnosis system message is displayed.

 

 

Current consumption

Indicators can be adjusted in order to save money and cause minimal damage to the environment.

Energy regeneration

The energy of the car's movement in the mode of forced idling is converted into electricity. The car's battery is partially charged, and a reduction in fuel consumption is possible.

 

 

Fuel level indicator

Fuel tank capacity: approx. 70 liters
The tilt of the car can cause the indication to fluctuate.

 

 

Operating range (Distance that can be driven on the remaining fuel)

When the fuel level drops to the reserve volume:

• a message of the self-diagnosis system is displayed for a short time;
• the on-board computer shows the power reserve.
