Air conditioning and climate control are air cooling systems in the car interior. However, many motorists still do not understand what their difference is. After all, despite the common goal, they still have significant differences. Let's consider the pros and cons of each of these systems and which one is better to choose for yourself.
What is an air conditioner?

Car air conditioning is one of the most common air cooling systems. However, if the home air conditioner is powered by the network, then the car device is powered by the engine crankshaft. And this means that the air conditioning system cools the air well thanks to the power unit. That is, the air conditioner uses part of the power of the diesel engine (internal combustion engine). Therefore, it is often possible to notice how the power of the engine itself decreases when driving with the use of air conditioning. So how does it work? In fact, after turning on the air conditioner, a very complex process is started. First of all, the electromagnetic clutch comes into play. At the first stage, the pressure shaft of the drive mechanism engages with the system pulley during activation. Then the compressor, which is designed to compress the consumable, comes into operation. Compressed coolant (most often it is freon) becomes hot and falls into condensate. There it begins to cool down thanks to an electric fan. The fan itself always functions at a reduced power, but if, for example, the car is in traffic or parked in a parking lot, it can automatically switch to a higher power.
The work process does not end at this stage. When the consumable is cooled by condensate, it begins to change its aggregate form and turns from a gaseous state into a liquid. Then the resulting liquid begins to enter the dehumidifier device, where it is filtered from dust and other debris. Next, the purified consumable enters the evaporator through a special valve that controls the temperature. Here freon boils and evaporates accordingly. And the obtained vapors are cooled and enter directly into the interior of the vehicle. As for freon, it is constantly in a closed cycle. Therefore, the process is repeated in a circle.
And what is Climate Control?

The biggest advantage of the climate cooling system is that it allows not only to cool the air, but also to heat it. In addition, unlike an air conditioner, climate control is equipped with a control unit. It is with the help of the control system that the data coming from various controllers and regulators in the car interior is analyzed. That is, the driver can independently choose a comfortable temperature regime for the cabin and the unit will adjust the temperature according to the specified parameters.
Differences and advantages
What is the difference between air conditioning and climate control? The climate control system is able to automatically adjust the temperature regime in order to ensure the comfort of the driver. It independently selects the desired mode according to the season. After all, the climate control analyzes the temperature not only inside the car, but also outside.
As for the complexity of managing these systems, controlling the air conditioner is not that difficult. Any motorist can cope with such a task. Although all the settings are set manually, the control panel itself is quite simple. It has a compressor adjustment key, a temperature regulator and dampers. There is also a fan speed switch on the panel along with an air flow distribution regulator in the cabin. There are several types of air conditioners. Usually they differ in the type of management. It can be carried out both with the help of buttons and levers in the car interior. In new cars, there are air conditioners equipped with an electronic liquid crystal display.
As for climate control, to set the required temperature, the driver only needs to select the appropriate parameter on the display. The control unit will perform other actions for the driver. The best cooling or heating effect can be achieved by setting the system to work in recirculation mode.
Let's summarize
The only, but important advantage of climate control is the presence of a control unit. As already said, the control unit will do everything for you. And this means that the driver will not be distracted from the road to set the necessary parameters. Nevertheless, let's be realistic and admit that cars equipped with a climate control system are always an order of magnitude higher than cars with air conditioning. Therefore, the question is only in the price.
